Holidays in Laces & Val Martello valley
Laces - ColdranoLaces (Latsch) lies at 638 m above sea level and has developed into a nice holiday village with many art and cultural treasures worth seeing. The most important sight is the late-Gothic and nearly totally preserved wing alter of the Swabian artist Jörg Lederer in the little spittle church of the Holy Ghost. Apart from the parish church in the village centre, the other sights can only be visited from the outside. These sights are: the Baroque manor Mühlrain, the remains of the castle Laces and other churches and chapels. In the Pichl church outside the village centre a 5.000 year old marble menhir was shortly rediscovered with inscribed pictures. A modern cable car takes you from Laces to San Martino al Monte at 1.736 m, a frequently visited pilgrimage place and a starting point for many panoramic hiking trails with a wonderful view over the whole valley. The Val Martello valley is a wonderful destination for families. This tight valley that has largely preserved its naturalness is famous for the strawberries that grow there. At the end of the valley you have a magnificent view onto the mountains Monte Cevedale and Cima Venezia, here an easy trail starts that is ideal for families and older people, it is also accessible for people in a wheelchair. The modern visiting centre ”Culturamartell“ of the national park Stelvio gives you the possibility to get to know the history and the culture of this valley. |
